Headteacher's Blog

How kind the sun is to come out for the end of SATs week! The last paper has been done and the papers have all been collected! Y6 pupils are at this very minute enjoying ice creams and preparing for an afternoon of fun on the Billing. They have all worked incredibly hard and I am proud of them all. A special thank you must go to Mrs. Hepworth who has overseen everything and been there for every child this week. Thanks you also to Mrs. Milner, our Learning Mentor, who has organised early breakfasts for all Y6 pupils each day this week!

Next week, some light relief from SATs, as it is Art week. This looks very exciting as pupils will not only explore pattern in a variety of ways but will also  be creating a whole school sculpture - more details and photos to follow! The art work produced this week will be displayed in school for all to see - Weds 8th June. Following that some art work with be displayed with artwork from all the other schools in the ALP Trust at Guiseley Methodist Church 20th and 21st June.

Other exciting news is that our year 3/4 cricketers won their round of the Drax Cup and go forward to the West Yorkshire Finals next half term - pupils, staff and parents had a great day!

I am pleased to say most classes have been enjoying some outdoor learning - Y5 enjoyed a recent residential at RobinWood, KS1 have been to Harlow Carr and Y3/4 have been to Kirkstall Abbey as part of their work on the Tudors. Don't worry both EYFS and Y6 have trips coming up shortly - we haven't left them out! In addition to this pupils have been having their say about our developing wildlife area - The Hive, having visited it over the past couple of weeks.

Enjoy the sun!
