Governance

It makes sure that the educational performance of pupils is strong and that the budget is used properly and effectively. This is done through full governing body meetings and subcommittees.

Mr Peter Marsh Chair of Governors
Committees:
|
Having spent my entire career in the education, including 14 years in Headship and 10 in school improvement, I am now retired. My hope is that these past experiences can, in some small part support the hard work and dedication of what is already recognised as a successful school. My wife and I have lived in Rawdon and attended St. Peter’s Church for over 40 years. Our only son, daughter-in-law and grandson, live in Guiseley. I enjoy keeping fit and still enjoy the odd round of golf. Sadly, for my non-sport-loving other half, I enjoy watching any sport that involves a ball (and of any shape!). I am also a long-suffering supporter of both Birmingham City and the Bradford Bulls Rugby League teams. |

Mr Ben McGregor Vice Chair of Governors Co-opted Governor Committees:
|
I initially graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2000 with a degree in Sport and Exercise Science. I then completed my PGCE in 2001 at Liverpool John Moores. During my career, I worked as a PE teacher. In 2020 I left my last teaching post as Director of Physical Education at Bingley Grammar School. My proudest moment came in 2015 where I was awarded Bradford Secondary School teacher of the year. I currently work as Head of Initial Teacher Training at Bradford Birth to 19. We are a larger teacher training organisation who trains teachers predominantly in Leeds and Bradford but also nationally. I am also a Specialist Leader in Education for Physical Education and for Initial Teacher Training. In my spare time, I am keen golfer and I enjoy digging in my allotment. I also enjoy spending time with my family. |

Miss Lynette Clapham Headteacher Governor Committees:
|
I became Headteacher of Rawdon St Peter’s in September 2022. This is my second headship, and I feel incredibly proud and privileged to lead our school. I love being part of such a warm, supportive and vibrant community. Our wonderful children, families, staff, governors and wider community make Rawdon St Peter’s a very special place to learn, work and grow. Before beginning my career in education, I worked in household insurance for a large insurance company before moving into loss adjusting. I later graduated from Trinity and All Saints University College in Leeds in 2006 with a degree in History and Primary Education. Throughout my teaching career, I have worked in schools across Leeds and Bradford and have experience of teaching in most primary year group. I bring a wealth of experience in research-informed teaching and learning, curriculum development and financial management. I am a Specialist Leader in Education for Assessment and the Coaching and Development of Others. I am also an accredited Behaviour Specialist with Positive Regard. I have a genuine passion for developing people, building positive relationships and helping both children and adults to flourish. I particularly enjoy working with trainees and seeing them grow and flourish. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, spending time with my family and friends and a little piece and quiet!

Mrs Rachel Ford Foundation Governor Teaching and Learning Church Links Safeguarding & Wellbeing |
As the Vicar of St Peter's Church, I sit on the governing body as an ex-officio member. I consider it both a privilege and a joy to be part of the St Peter's school community, both as a member of the governing body, and coming in to lead regular collective worship with the children. I have been on the governing body (and lived in Rawdon) since 2023, with my husband and two primary-aged daughters. In my pre-vicar life, I taught in North Yorkshire and Bradford schools for 10 years, with experience in Year 4 and Year 6 classes, as well as being subject lead in R.E. (no surpriser there!) and Modern Foreign Languages. I enjoy reading, cooking, a nice cup of coffee and being in the outdoors. |

Mr Robert Mirfield Co-opted Governor Committees:
|
My degree was in Modern Languages but my working career was spent in Personnel and Training, a large percentage being targeted on helping unemployed young people and adults get back into work, particularly through Job Guarantee. I have lived in Horsforth for more than 30 years and have been a member of the Rotary Club of Aireborough since 1990. I was also Chair of Governors at Benton Park School where our children were educated. I have been a volunteer reader in Oak Class for the past few years too. |

Mrs Rebecca Bugler Parent Governor Committees:

I am a Parent Governor and have 2 children at Rawdon St. Peter’s. I am currently an Assistant Headteacher at a Primary School near Leeds city centre and therefore have a great deal of experience in primary education and am used to working hand in hand with parents and carers. We all want the best for our children and want them to be happy, successful learners who love their time at school. As an experienced governor, I am keen to work with the school community and with the governing body to support Rawdon St. Peter’s so that our children thrive and have the best education possible! |

Mrs Teresa Downes Parent Governor Committees:

I have been a governor at RSP for just over a year now and have recently been elected to chair the Resource sub-committee. In my day job I’m an Operations Manager managing a large multi-disciplined team for a Media and Technology company and have been in post for almost 10 years. My role is wide and varied, including H&S, HR, budgets / P&L, recruitment, service & strategic management. I have two boys at RSP, one is year 5 and one year 1. Both boys love their school, teachers, friends and overall ethos. I agree – it’s an amazing place and I feel grateful I’m able to contribute. |

Mrs Nicola Ware Committees:

Hello, I’m Nicola. As a parent of a pupil at RSP, I have been a parent governor for 4 years, and am now a Co-opted local authority governor. My degree is in public relations and I work in a global marketing team.
I am passionate about both quality of education and the need to provide a nurturing environment for primary school pupils. I am conscious of the challenges and choices that schools face and enjoy working with the highly skilled team of teachers, staff and governors at RSP to deliver the best education we can to our pupils, whilst ensuring they feel safe and enjoy their learning experience. Outside of work, I love the theatre, and also enjoy a dog walk, a good book and a catch-up over a coffee with friends. I’m always happy to chat with parents about school if they have something they want to discuss.

Miss Joanna Baxendale Committees:
|
I am an ex-pupil of Rawdon St Peters, and I grew up locally so this community has always been very close to my heart. I am Headteacher of a very large primary school and nursery in Bradford, and I’ve been teaching for over 25 years. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working across all age ranges, with a special passion for nurturing children in their early years and making sure they get the very best start. I care deeply about quality education and about creating schools where children feel safe, valued and inspired to learn. I bring a wealth of knowledge about school improvement, gained through my work as a consultant across Bradford. This experience helps me contribute to governance in a meaningful way bringing both challenge and support to help schools keep moving forward. On a personal note, I’m happiest with a good book in my hand or on a woodland walk with my black lab, Hunter. I also have two teenage children, so home life keeps me busy as well as grounded. |
Register of Governors' Business and Personal Interests
The Governing Body of each school is required by regulations made under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 to establish a register which lists for each member of the Governing Body and the Headteacher, any business or personal interests they or any member of their immediate family have which could conflict with the school’s interests; to keep the register up to date with notification of changes and through annual review of entries, and to make the register available for inspection by governors, staff, parents and the Director’s of Education and Finance or their representative.
All governors have completed the relevant paperwork confirming they do NOT have any business or personal interests that conflict with their role.
