SEND
Rawdon St Peter’s is an inclusive and accessible school. We support all pupils to achieve their potential, personally, socially, emotionally and academically, in all areas of the curriculum and help them prepare for the future.
Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator is Mrs Jay Oliver and is supported by our Junior Special Educational Needs Coordinator, Miss Natasha Whincup. Together, they ensure that children with learning needs in our school have the best experience possible and reach their full potential. They run drop-in surgeries throughout the year; parents can book a session, either face to face or on the phone, to discuss their child's learning or get an update on how they are doing.
Children may have special educational needs that require additional support when progress has slowed or stopped. They may have a learning need or disability that calls for additional or adapted learning provision to be made. At Rawdon St Peter’s we implement a graduated approach as recommended by Leeds City Council. This is based on an Assess-Plan-Do-Review structure.
At Rawdon St Peter’s, pupils are identified as having SEND when they are having difficulty in their learning. There are varying stages of SEND which help us decide what support your child needs.
We have a number of documents that may help you understand Special Educational Needs both at Rawdon St Peter’s and in Leeds:
