Welcome to Ash Class. Our teacher is called Mrs Lydon. Sometimes, other adults from across school help in our class which helps us get to know everyone.
Learning in Key Stage One is more formal than when we first came to school. Our class teacher still gives us opportunities to use our continuous provision but the vast majority of our learning is done together in the classroom.
A big focus is learning to read. We know reading helps us build our confidence and unlock other areas of the curriculum as we move through the primary phase. We focus particularly on decoding words and reading fluency first. Once we are fluent, we begin to focus on comprehension skills. We need lots of practice to help us do this and so we ask that an adult at home hears us read every single day for 10 minutes. If there are any words you find tricky, you can ask your adult to make a note of them in your Reading Record so that the adults in school can help you further. In school, we read with an adult 3 times a week and our reading books are changed regularly.
Our PE days are Monday and Wednesday and, on these days, we can come to school in our PE kit. If you are not sure what to wear, visit our uniform page to find out.
The Rawdon St. Peter’s Curriculum has been written by our teachers. They have made sure our learning experiences are fun, exciting and prepare us for the next steps in our learning. Our Long Term Plans for the curriculum at the bottom of this page and you can find out more about what we are learning this half term and our homework in the links below.
Our teachers in school are always happy to answer any questions you make have. They come on to the playground five minutes before the bell rings each morning to talk to us and our parents. If there isn’t enough time to talk then, they will arrange to ring home at a mutually convenient time. If its easier, your class teacher can be contacted via the school office or by emailing email@example.com.
